After both graphics drivers have been installed then reboot the pc.After logging back into windows, use windows explorer to where you have the extracted ATivo Wdm drivers. Follow the same installation procedure for the second graphics card as the first.
CROSSFIRE CANNOT ALTTAB DRIVER
You will get a message saying "your driver has been installed and your new hardware is now ready for use" If you get a message saying you need to reboot for your new hardware to work properly then click No.

CROSSFIRE CANNOT ALTTAB INSTALL
You will get a message about this driver not being compatible with your hardware-IGNORE it and install the driver. Click the middle one and then scroll slowly down in the right hand side of the same screen until you see ATi Radeon HD 3850.

On the next page do not pick the "install automatically" option but pick the option where you will tell it where to search, Then browse for the folder where you have extracted the Ati packages (It is better that you expand them before installation).īrowse to the folder for the Graphics Card Drivers and pick the xp x86/64 folder then click OK.Ī box will come saying ATi 3800 series.DO NOT say ok at this point for installation! Untick the box that says show compatible hardware and you will see on the left hand side window three ATi entries.
CROSSFIRE CANNOT ALTTAB PC
Do not allow the pc to search for a driver on the internet but pick the option to search for yourself(option3). When once again in windows you will have the "Found new hardware" wizard pop up. NOT the whole integrated ATi Catalyst/Ativo/Driver package!
CROSSFIRE CANNOT ALTTAB DOWNLOAD
Download the latest ATi video drivers for your Asus EAH3850 graphics card, taking care to download both the ATI card driver, the ATivo drivers and ATI Catalyst Control Center as SEPARATE downloads ie. Then remove/uninstall any video (graphics card)drivers you have installed. Use the Ati uninstall utility found under Control Panel/ Add/Remove programs to remove any that are ATi based (such as the ATi Southbridge drivers)but do not reboot yet. The solution to the problem of being unable to enable crossfire in a dual card setup, due to the crossfire box being greyed out and also receiving a message that "Crossfire cannot be enable or disabled because you have a 3D application or video playback running in the background" is to start your pc setup by removing all the motherboard chipset drivers. uses an alternative setup method to the one that they currently have. You may also want to pass this on to Asus as they will have to either alter the way their motherboard drivers work (the motherboard in question is the M3A32 MVP Deluxe WiFi/AP ) or alter their instruction manual,so that anyone that wants to use crossfire. I actually do not need anymore help however, I thought it might be nice to tell you what the solution is, should anyone else come to you with the same query that I did. I would also advise you to lodge a ticket with them as well, stating this "3d application thing) the more they keep hearing about it the more likely they are to try to find a solution. I will be keeping an eye on this thread and would be grateful if you could let me know if you find a solution, I will let you know if I do or if ATi/Amd get back to me with something that works. If I take one card out then the option for crossfire disappears entirely so on some level, ccc does know that the hardware installed supports crossfire but it just wont let me enable it. Truth be told I am really angry about this as I could so easily have gone the SLi route but no, I had to plump for the much vaunted spider platform and now I have two graphics cards in my pc that should be working together but are not.ĬCC only scard when there are 2, however it does report 1024mb(1gig) of memory which I find a bit strange as the card has only 512mb. I have tried Ati support but apart from the automated response they sent me, telling me to try all the things that I had already tried before I emailed them, I have received no further response. Then again, this is the very first time that I have ever used an ATi graphics card in any pc I have built as I have always used nvidia. This is a new build pc and I have built literally hundreds of them and this is the first one that has ever given me sleepless nights(and days). I have neither running and I have tried everything to make this work, including one 38 hour stint without sleep. I too am getting the message "Before crossfire can be enabled or disabled you need to close the 3d application or video playback that is currently running" Hi, I have the same problem though slightly different specs.
